Quarantine Breakout! Planned Trip: Crested Butte, CO, June 4-8

I met my partner, Brandy, on February 29, 2020. Before that, I’d never even heard of Crested Butte, Colorado. She had spent some time living there though and absolutely loves it. She has apparel, pictures in her (our) house, she talks about it constantly. In fact, she had an annual trip planned with her mother for shortly after I met her.

Then came the COVID.

The coronavirus pandemic left much of the country closed and travel was discouraged until the virus got under control. Her trip with her mother was postponed, much to her dismay. Then her mother moved back to Iowa to be with her ex-soon-to-be-ex-husband (long story) and the trip was put on hold indefinitely.

Since then, Brandy and I have fallen deeply in love and have begun looking forward to our own trip. Brandy has kept a close watch to see when Gunnison County was going to re-open to visitors. Then came the word. The resort that she frequents is opening back up for reservation as of May 27. Brandy was eager to jet out to Crested Butte that weekend, the 29th through the 1st of June.

Of course, there’s one small problem. I’m moving in with her that weekend.

Begrudgingly, but excitedly, she booked the trip for the following weekend, June 4 through the 8th. We’ll be packing up on June 3 and we will be leaving after I get off work on Thursday the 4th. We will get as far as we can that night then arrive in Crested Butte on the 5th and will check out on the 8th.

I’m terribly excited to break the state line as quickly as I am, and being with Brandy will give us the opportunity to explore more than if trying to do this on my own.

I’m excited to write about more adventures!

Until then, remember, almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a while…

…including you.
