Skyline Drive
February 18, February 24 With a little time to kill before our 3:00 check-in at our AirBnB, we decided to make a short detour and drove Skyline Drive, a thrilling 3 mile drive up and over a hogback on the west side of Canon City.
Garden of the Gods, Colorado Spring, CO
February 19 After looking for things to do in and around Canon City, I discovered that Garden of the Gods was in Colorado Springs which is only an hour away from Canon City. We added it our to-do list and I did my requisite deep dive to discover as much as I could about it.
Arkansas Riverwalk Trail
February 21, 22, 23 The AirBnB where we stayed in Canon City was blocks from the Arkansas River. There is an 11 mile Riverwalk Trail alongside the river, some small sections of which we hiked during our stay in the city.
Redemption Trail
February 21 Another of the trails I saved in preparation for this trip was Redemption Trail. I read about this awesome slot canyon that I REALLY wanted to hike. I made it there, but alas, wasn’t able to hike it. Read on!
Canon City Museums
February 22 With a pair of little-to-no cost museums right across the street from each other, finding time between the end of my work day and the end of Brandy’s work day was a cinch!
Royal Gorge Route Railroad
February 23 In November 2021, we took a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. We enjoyed it so much, we thought we’d try the Royal Gorge Route Railroad from Canon City.
2023 Year in Review
Full of extreme highs and equally extreme lows, I can honestly and truly say that 2023 was unlike any year I’ve had in my life.
Albuquerque and Walsenburg
September 8-16 In what is now officially an annual tradition we made our return to Albuquerque and Walsenburg and I had the best trip yet.
