Wolf Lunch Train

It seems we like trains. This is the third train excursion we’ve been on in the last few years (if you count the Rail Explorers excursion we went on in Kentucky, this makes four!) and it never gets old!

While we were in Maine, I got an invite from a former co-worker, Jeff, to take a ride on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad’s Wolf Lunch Train which runs from mid-to-late May through mid-to-late October each year.

The Wolf Lunch train is a two hour ride down the tracks running northwest out of Boone, over the Bass Point Creek High Bridge, then over the Des Moines River.

At the time my tickets were purchased, Brandy was planning on being in Florida for a work trip that weekend, however with the storms that had ravaged the state in the interim, the trip was pushed by a week so she was available to join us after all. I had already purchased my ticket, so I had to make a separate transaction for her ticket, which was no big deal.

The morning arrived and, with a 2 hour 15 minute drive ahead of us, we hit the road just before 8:00 am. After a couple of stops for a bio break and a mandatory stop at the Goodwill in Boone, we made it to the depot at 10:45. We walked in and quickly found Jeff and his wife, who were also there with a couple more of their friends.
