After being home (and sick) for a week, we decided to try taking a trip to a nearby state park, Red Haw.
We made the hour drive out and were there for 15, maybe 20 minutes before we turned around and came back home.
Not only was it too cold to do much of anything, everything was dead, brown and gray. It wasn’t very pleasing to the eye and just not worth posting about.
After having spent the week in Cripple Creek, it’s very evident how the winters can differ from place to place. While it didn’t snow while we were in Colorado, it had not too long prior so the scenery was blanketed in a lovely white carpet. Snow-capped mountains circled the area where we were staying while the drab, dead scenes on this trip were backdropped by a state highway.
As we drove through the park, I noted that it would be pretty if there was green foliage on the trees and bushes throughout the space. This may be a stop we will try to make once things start springing back to life.
Until then, we have Montrose coming up.
