Well, well, well. Here we are in Iowa and I’m about to make my first outing since the move.
After a significant amount of time off from hiking, and being in an unfamiliar area, I figured I’d take it slow. I looked for easy trails close to us and found the Woodpecker East Trail.
At a half a mile away, this is likely going to be our new Cedro Creek trail: something quick and easy that’s close by and we can go get a quick jaunt in after work during the week or something. We will be taking that hike this weekend, on March 19. We will be leaving Ash at home on this one though. We don’t want our first hike in Iowa to be too big of a struggle.
AllTrails has the hike listed as an easy 3.4 miles (so counting on around 3.75 miles or so) with a whopping 22 foot elevation gain. Starting at 659 feet above sea level, this should be a piece of cake for us.
I can not begin to tell you how excited I am to make this hike. After the two and a half months we’ve had, we’re both ready for a break. I mean, sure, I had my winter camping trip with Alan that I haven’t written about yet (trip report to follow toot suite, I promise), but that was as much work as it was play.
I’m ready to get back out into it…
Until next time,
-Phil
