Optimistic Observations: It’s Not As Bad As It Seems

Today is Friday, April 4, 2025, and, as the title says, it’s not as bad as it seems.

Yesterday, I lamented about how busy I was and that I felt like I was running ragged and needed a break. After griping about how I had a series of unfortunate events in my day-to-day lately, I shot off a list of things I have to get done in short order, things like:

  • Pack
  • Go to South Side Drug to pick up a refill of a med I will run out of in SC
  • Go to the DMV to get the title for the RV switched over into our names
  • Clean the kitchen
  • Take trash out

Well, there’s no reason the title on the RV needs to be switched over right RIGHT now. I can do that when we get back from SC.

I cleaned the kitchen yesterday in the morning, just a quick, get the dishes done kind of cleaning, not a deep cleaning as our cleaning lady came to finish up the scrubbing for us.

After work, I took the few minutes to go pick up my prescription from South Side Drug and was back in short order.

I then started working on folding the laundry and packing. After packing, I didn’t have much left to put away so killing two birds with one stone helped the mental a bit.

I didn’t put the bedding back on the spare bed, no reason to do that, we’re not having company before we get back from SC.

But the biggest thing I realized is that I added the few items I posted about yesterday to the vast, unending list of perpetual to-do items that are constantly on my brain. I put packing, laundry and picking up my meds on top of finishing the flooring in the basement, replacing doors, finishing trim, putting up paneling, and so on. I need to start separating the immediate to-do list from the long-term to do list… maybe if I put up a visual board… 🤔
