Optimistic Observations: Baseball is in the Air

Today is Thursday, May 8, 2025, and baseball season is in full swing.

With the Dodgers hanging out on the east coast for the last week or so, I’ve been able to watch a lot of the games. There were a couple over the weekend I missed as they were on national TV (Fox on Saturday and ESPN Sunday) but otherwise the boys in blue have been on the TV since they got to Atlanta.

Luckily, these games have come when they’re pretty hot, winning 4 out of the 6 games since Friday. Tonight they start a 4 game series in Arizona, tonight will be the hardest game for me to watch as it doesn’t start until 8:40. Same start time tomorrow but it’ll be Friday and I’ll be able to stay up later and watch a little more of it.

I bought tickets for the Iowa Cubs game for May 30. I haven’t been to a minor league game in many, many years and am looking very forward to that.

Not long after that, we’re going to Kansas City to watch the Dodgers play the Royals, also exceedingly excited about that. This will be the seventh Major League stadium I will be to, the others including:

  • Dodger Stadium (of course)
  • Angel Stadium (stands to reason)
  • Petco Park (not out of the realm of possibility)
  • Jack Murphy Stadium/Qualcomm Park (before the Padres moved to Petco)
  • Coors Field (OK, now we’re getting somewhere)
  • Wrigley Field

I’m on a mission now to not only visit all 30 Major League stadiums, but to see the Dodgers at each one. I’m going to make it a point to catch them in St. Louis next season, or maybe see about Milwaukee and Rate Field in Chicago. We will see, that’s a year away.
