Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail Stop #2 – Blakes Lotaburger

I was reluctant to make a post dedicated to Blake’s Lotaburger on the New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail. Blake’s are everywhere here in town and I’ve had them a million times before, but the ‘Rona has kept us from making proper stops anywhere else, so I thought I’d go ahead and do this now.

Brandy was working on Saturday so I took a trip to the Blake’s on Central just west of Eubank. They’ve simplified the ordering process and added an option to make your Lotaburger “NM Style” which includes double patties, cheese, green chile, and the standard garnish (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard…)

I ordered the meal but come to find out, the drink fountain was out of everything but like Sprite and Mountain Dew so I just got the burger and an order of seasoned fries for a little over $10.

Now, this is the worst part of ordering food from Blakes is the wait. It always takes SO long to get your food. Luckily there was only one person ahead of me so I only had to wait about 10 minutes.

I got my sack o’ food and drove it home to eat on a TV tray in front of the TV.

As always, the food was delicious. I’ve always enjoyed Blake’s and am inclined to name it my favorite green chile cheeseburger so far.

The seasoned fries are always good too. Fried to crispy perfection, seasoned perfectly and nice and hot, even by the time I got home before digging into them.

With COVID restrictions in New Mexico slowly loosening, I might be able to take a proper stop somewhere, even if it’s in town. Maybe Owl Cafe?

Until then, I’ll be satisfied with the burger joints I do have access to.

We do have a trip to CO coming this weekend (February 27-28) which was supposed to happen this past weekend but Brandy got tied up with work, so we pushed it a week. Probably not a lot going to happen on this trip so I probably won’t have much of a trip report, but I’m planning on an outing next weekend with Alan, then going to try to head south to the Catwalk in Glenwood, or maybe Carlsbad Caverns. Not sure yet, but stay tuned!

And this will be a perfect quote to end this post with:

“You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.”

See ya next time!
