Breaking State Lines

On my About page, I ended with the paragraph, “Follow me as I try to find a new part of myself, whether in the Jemez, the Sandias, somewhere in Southern New Mexico… and who knows, maybe I’ll break the state line at some point in the future.”

As I often find myself doing, I’m currently reading through all my past posts, starting with my first adventure to the Albuquerque Museum for the Jim Henson exhibit held there just before the outbreak of COVID.

When I started this blog, my expectations were not high. I didn’t have any idea that I was going to be married to Brandy, with an amazing career, and with the incredible opportunities I have.

I’d just read that line I noted in the opening of this post about “maybe” breaking state lines at some point in the future.

Well, shit howdy, have I ever.

I’m reading my post where I discussed our plans for our quarantine breakout trip to Crested Butte, CO, and am laughing at how giddy I was at the idea of actually leaving New Mexico. To go to Colorado, no less, just one state away.

Now, here were are, a little over four years later, and we just got back from a trip that took us literally coast to coast, through 27 different states, stopping for visits in nine of them (including Colorado TWICE!) and putting likely near 15,000 miles on the truck (math to be done at a later time.)

My To-Do list was full of things that I wanted to do in New Mexico, and recently was updated with things to do in Iowa. I never took into consideration that I would be in a position to do things like go to Niagara Falls, the Baseball Hall of Fame, Mammoth Cave, Acadia National Park, Astoria to see the Goonies house, and SO much more!

I just think it’s kinda funny…

That’s all, carry on.
