On the border between Vermont and New York sits 500+ square mile Lake Champlain. At it’s widest point, the lake is up to 14 miles wide, but at it’s narrowest points, say, between Grand Isle, VT and Plattsburgh, NY, it’s only a couple miles.
We took a ferry across the river between those two points.

Not being too big a fan of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (based purely upon its price,) I didn’t think much about visiting their factory, but my adventurous spirit won out and we wound up booking a tour.

Guys! I went tubing!

There isn’t a lot to do in Vermont. About the only desirable “urban” destination we could find was Burlington, about an hour and a half northwest of our AirBnB.

While Brandy got caught up on sleep after her hellacious two weeks in Oregon, Ash and I took a hike on the South Kent Pond via Appalachian Trail.
July 14
With Brandy recovering from a night of drinking, Ash and I took a hike at the Texas Falls Recreation Area near Hancock, VT.

The checkout from the AirBnB near Cooperstown, NY, was by 9:00, by far the earliest checkout time I’ve ever dealt with. I knew it was only a three and a half hour drive to our next AirBnB in Vermont and check-in there wasn’t until 4:00 (pretty late check-in.) I did find stuff to do on the way- read on for more.

I have been a baseball fan since before I was born. Literally. I have a picture of my dad and my 8 month-pregnant mom at one of the games of the 1974 World Series between the Dodgers and the A’s. As a lifetime fan of baseball, it’s only fitting that my bucket list should contain a trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
