Well, it’s official. Alan and I took our first camping trip over the weekend of . This was my first time ever tent camping and the first camping I’ve done at all in decades.
It was a life changing experience.
Less than a mile off of the Tijeras exit from Interstate 40, within a community known as Canyon Estates, is a trailhead that will eventually lead you over the ridge of Sandia Crest. Half a mile from that trailhead lies Travertine Falls.
It has been decades since I’ve last been camping, and truth be told, I don’t know that I’ve ever been tent camping. The only camping trips I ever remember taking have been in a camper or trailer, and I was a little dude so I didn’t even really have to make the plans. I just kind of… tagged along.
Hopefully that changes in a few short weeks.

I’m able to cross another item off my To-Do List: Riding the Sandia Peak Tram.

I took a quick hike with Ash this afternoon after work on the Cedro Creek Nature Trail. This was my third time hiking this trail, first without Brandy. Without Brandy, I was able to extend myself to the end of the trail, my first time doing so.
All told, I made the entire hike, 1.9 miles, in 56 minutes. I felt I made a pretty good pace throughout the entirety of the trek, only having to stop a couple of times on the steepest inclines. Aside from those pauses, I did have to stop a couple times for Ash to do his business.
I’m very proud of what I was able to accomplish today, especially taking the hike after a full work day.
I only have a few pictures of this trip, mostly of Ash. There are plenty of other pictures of the trail on my post from my first time and second time on the trail. Make sure you check those out if you haven’t yet.
As always, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!

No matter what you call it, this house sure stands out in Albuquerque.

While I didn’t get a hike in today, I still went back up to the area where I hiked yesterday to go back to one of the kitschiest museums you’d ever hope to visit: Tinkertown.
This morning on my way to my hike around the Sulphur and Cienega Horse Bypass Loop Trail, I noticed that Tinkertown is open. I decided right then and there that I was returning the next day.

Just when we thought we were getting into nice, warm Spring weather, I decided to hike on the traditional Albuquerque Spring Snow Day.
