I’d passed the10K trailhead a bazillion times before on the way to Sandia Crest. I’d always assumed the 10K meant it was a 10 kilometer trail, but only recently did it dawn on me that it because it starts at 10,000 feet.

I’m a glutton for punishment, I guess.
After Friday’s outing to Bandelier National Monument, followed by a morning-long outing to the ABQ BioPark and Old Town, I decided to push my aching legs on a near-6 mile hike.

I didn’t really have much of a plan today, aside from going to the zoo, but it turned out to be quite an eventful day.

Scrolling through Instagram last week, a page I follow, Edible New Mexico, showcased Laura Crucet, owner and Executive Chef at Pig + Fig Cafe in the town of White Rock. Not wanting to drive an hour and a half just for lunch, I looked at what I could do nearby. That’s when I saw how close the Cafe is to Bandelier National Monument.
