As the holidays approach, I’ve been thinking more and more about how far I’ve come to become the man I am today. I had this need to put it out there, even if I’m the only one that will ever read it.

In the Summer of 2023, Blue October announced the dates for their Spinning the Truth Around Part II fall tour. The closest they got to us on this leg would be on November 29 at the Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, just outside of West Des Moines.
So we went.
I seldom do posts about food or restaurants any more, but Brandy and I went to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse for an anniversary dinner on Saturday and I was moved to write this up.
I didn’t quite realize, but these next few weeks are going to be crazy busy for me!

After my accident, I was largely homebound, not leaving except for doctor visits, the surgery on October 18, and not much else.
Brandy decided to take me for a nice breakout day on October 29 for a drive up the Historic Hills Scenic Byway in southern Iowa.
Things were going amazing in my life. I was the happiest I’ve ever been, I’d just started my new job, we were getting ready to get our shitty sliding glass door replaced…
Then things turned upside down.

Well, I finally get to cross two items off my Iowa To-Do List: touring the Bridges of Madison County and visiting the John Wayne Birthplace and Museum.
