Here we go again. Another two months of chaos and, as hard as I’m trying to keep my posts up, it’s just not happening.
You know what the biggest problem I’m having is? The pictures. By and large, my posts are done and ready to go, with the exception being Photo Diary entries, featured pictures on the posts, and the occasional image within the post. I have pictures on my phone and, true, I could add pictures as needed from there, but it’s SO much easier doing it from an actual PC. The process is as such:
My pictures are taken on my phone. When I’m ready to put them up, I upload them from my phone to my Google Drive, then, on my home PC, I download them to my local drive, go through them, delete anything that didn’t come out, duplicates, etc. Then I try to find one to use as the post’s featured image, another to use as the photo diary thumbnail and Instagram post picture and make those adjustments as necessary.
I then upload everything to WordPress then create the Photo Diary entry, then update the Photo Diary page with the thumbnail linking to the entry, then update the post to include the link to the entry as well.
It’s a rather time consuming process, but well worth it in the end, I think.
That said, I simply have not had the time to get all my pictures downloaded to my local drive, go through them, weed out the extraneous stuff, make the adjustments, upload them all to WordPress, and make the changes to the posts and pages. All I have to work on is a desktop PC.
Now, if I had a good laptop… well, that would be a different story. I’d be able to do this stuff on the fly, while I am at where I’m documenting about. But, alas, that just isn’t in the cards for me at this time.
But, fear not, worthy followers, the time may be nearer than thought! Stay tuned for some exciting updates in the coming months.
Until then, I will have some posts once we get back from Colorado and I have a chance to do the picture thing.
See you then!
